The court dismissed Parler in a lawsuit against Amazon – the charges of the social network were considered shaky
US District Court Rejects Parler’s Claim Against Amazon For Suspension Of Platform Service. Judge Barbara Rothstein ruled that the social network will not be able to prove violations of the contract and antitrust laws. Writes about it Reuters.
Rothstein also refused to issue an injunction requiring Amazon to resume service. She felt it was not in the public interest to post “offensive and violent content” in light of the recent Capitol riots.
Parler representatives declined to comment on the situation. Amazon, in turn, supports the court decision. The company said the plaintiff repeatedly ignored warnings to contain aggressive content on its platform, which included calls to assassinate Democratic politicians, business executives and media representatives.
On January 10th AWS (owned by Amazon) disconnected Parler from its servers for posting “aggressive content” that violates platform rules. In response, the social network filed a lawsuit against the hosting, accusing the company of violating antitrust laws and violating the terms of the contract due to political hostility.
